![]() ![]() The text of Article 124(2) is as follows:-ġ24(2) Every judge of the Supreme Court shall be appointed by the President by warrant under his hand and seal after consultation with such of the Judges of the Supreme Court and of the High Courts in the States as the President may deem necessary for the purpose and shall hold office until he attains the age of sixty-five years: UOI reported in 1993(4) SCC 441 and Special Reference 1 of 1998 reported in 1998(7) SCC 739, the Supreme Court has virtually re-written Articles 124(2) and Articles 217 which pertain to appointment of Supreme Court Judges respectively.
